I’m on the internet since 2003 and started working on search engines in 2008. The tools back then were MAPQuest for driving directions, 411.com was the telephone directory online and White Pages when you want to find businesses, their address and contacts and Google was on Beta, AskJeeves – remember AskJeeves?? Yahoo was the top search engine, your first email account and chat account other than MSN. We have come this far talking about AI and ChatGPT.
Why everyone is talking about AI when they don’t even know that AI has been existing since the internet started. AI or artificial intelligence simply means algorithm and machine learning in SEO world. It’s all about predictive – guessing, calculating what should comes next.
Search Engines like Yahoo, AskJeeves, MAPQuest and Google has been using all these techniques, it was 2003 and AI was not yet a term but it has been running as predictive, machine learning, algorithm intelligence.
Here comes Sam and his big thing, the ChatGPT
I call it as the new generation’s hype.
Is ChatGPT useful for your business? We use ChatGPT to translate massive of content from English to German. It passed as an average native German translator but ChatGPT can’t still recognise German humours and other day to day conversations that native Germans say.
I also used ChatGPT when I had 10 websites for SEO and they want the results fast. Just by typing a brief summary or a context of the SEO content, “write 1,000 words of SEO keywords….” ChatGPT gave me versions that were pulled out from Google indexed pages, like reading a book without you writing it. That will do since they were only after ranking keywords on these 10 websites.
If I do it on my blog write now, “write 1,000 keywords about Is AI good for your business”, you can tell that it’s not written by human who put thoughts into it. Try it yourself.
Students should definitely not use ChatGPT as a high level form of laziness. We have acquired so much convenience since the internet, what else are we asking for? To not literally think?
How’s AI for your business?
Artificial Intellignece. Algorithm. Machine Learning. Predictive Analysis.
In my professional field, we use lots of them especially running campaigns, targeting similar audiences, reading user journey’s data and the next strategies that we should implement, all comes from algorithm, machine learning and predictive analysis. Tools that we use in programmatic campaigns, data analytics and automation are all enhanced AI.
For recruitments (RPO), business processing (BPO) and other companies who uses bots and predicitive chat robots, please stop. It’s hurting your business and annoying to your target audiences.
Bots sorting candidates based on matching keywords of your company’s job description or automatically rejecting your candidates because of skills term that can’t be found on their resume? You will lose out the real talent.
Ecommerce with chat assistants, oh don’t get me started. How many times that the bots can’t answer your customer’s queries since it’s not on your FAQs. How’s your retention rate with these chat bots?
Where AI Excels in Business
Despite its shortcomings, AI has many valuable applications in business. Here are some areas where AI truly shines:
Data Analysis and Predictive Modeling: AI-driven tools analyze customer data, predict trends, and help businesses make data-driven decisions.
Marketing Automation: AI enhances programmatic advertising, email marketing, and audience targeting. Marketers can optimize campaigns based on real-time data and machine learning insights.
Operational Efficiency: AI streamlines repetitive tasks, reducing workload and improving productivity.
Personalized Recommendations: AI enhances user experiences by providing personalized recommendations on e-commerce platforms and streaming services.
The Future of AI in Business
AI is here to stay, but businesses must use it wisely. It should enhance—not replace—human expertise. Companies that rely too much on AI risk alienating customers and missing out on valuable human insights. While AI-powered tools improve efficiency, businesses should always maintain a human element in their operations.
I still trust the human minds.
My work around digital technolgy is evolving all the time but it doesn’t mean I leave it to AI to use my sound judgement on outcomes.
